Xbox Game Pass is a Netflix-style service providing access to hundreds of games for a flat monthly fee, covering a range of heavy hitters from all generations of Xbox consoles, including all Gears of War and Halo games, a selection of Rare’s back catalogue, and the likes of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Forza Horizon 5. Xbox Game Pass updates come regularly – to both add and remove games – so it’s worth coming back to see what’s been added.
As well as a selection of games from third-party publishers, you can expect all future first-party Xbox Game Studios games to be arriving Day One on Game Pass Ultimate, too.
October 2025 saw a number of changes to Game Pass, including name changes to certain plans, new features for each plan and a price increase for Game Pass Ultimate. When it comes to the name changes, Game Pass Core is now called Xbox Game Pass Essential. Game Pass Standard, meanwhile, is now called Xbox Game Pass Premium. If you were subscribed to either Core or Standard, you’ll be automatically moved over to the corresponding plan.
Though Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has kept its name, there has been the previously mentioned price increase. Ultimate members do now have access to Fortnite Crew (the battle royale’s subscription service) and Ubisoft+ classics, alongside may other features.
